Civil Engineering Apprentice

Do you enjoy problem solving? Or perhaps you are keen to pursue a career in Civil Engineering? We are currently seeking a Civil Engineering Apprentice to join our practice in Clay Cross. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our growing design team whilst working on a wide range of civil engineering projects across the UK.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Producing CAD (Computer Aided Design) drawings
  • Assisting with technical approval submissions
  • Preparing simple civil engineering calculations
  • Ensuring outputs are accurate and meet the required standards
  • Working as part of a team to meet agreed deadlines
  • Maintaining the drawing register
  • Contributing to providing solutions to problems

Requirements & Prospects

Desired Skills

  • Show an aptitude towards software-based engineering and drawing e.g. Computer Aided Design (CAD) and other similar 3D software
  • Demonstrate an interest in and have desire to pursue a career specifically within Civil Engineering
  • Be computer literate and have a basic understanding of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Etc.

Personal Qualities

  • Work well as part of a team
  • Good communication skills (Both written and verbal)
  • Enthusiastic with a willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Reliable and self-motivated
  • Adaptable

Desired Qualifications

  • Hold a GCSE C/4 Grade (or equivalent) in English, maths and Science

Future Prospects

  • The successful applicant will undertake a supervised programme of training and college day release to study in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering
  • You should go on to become a permanent employee of Inspire Design with the opportunity to further your studies at a higher level

Training

Construction Civil Engineering

  • You will be expected to work towards an Advanced Level 3 Civil Engineering Apprenticeship, with support from your employer and Learning Unlimited
  • An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, gain valuable work experience and industry specific competence
  • As part of your apprenticeship and dependent on your prior attainment you may be required to complete maths, English and ICT Functional Skills which is an integral part of your apprenticeship
  • Upon successful completion you will be awarded an additional certificate of recognition for these qualifications
