This apprenticeship equips apprentices with the basic skills and knowledge to carry out a range of engineering and manufacturing processes at semi-skilled and operator level. You will learn how to operate effectively in a manufacturing environment and how to undertake a range of defined tasks and duties.

You will study a number of units including:

  • Preparing for manufacturing operations
  • Concluding manufacturing operations
  • Ensuring effective handover of manufacturing operations
  • Producing products by assembly operations
  • Finishing products
  • Manufacturing products using combined manufacturing operations

Entry requirements

You should ideally have GCSE grades of at least D to E in maths, English and a science subject. You should be practically-minded and motivated to start a career in engineering/manufacturing.

Typical duties

  • Ensure machines and equipment are maintained
  • Assemble products using jigs and tools
