This qualification is suitable for those looking to develop in their accounting and finance career. It is also for those who have been working in a finance role but would like to achieve formal recognition of their skills.
This qualification is a high-quality training programme designed to help you to become as effective as possible in your career and gain an internationally recognised qualification relating to your work. This level introduces more complex accounting tasks for financial and management accounting following on from the Level 2 Certificate.

The AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting covers a range of complex accounting tasks, including maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns. Students will learn and master financial processes, including accounting principles and concepts, advanced bookkeeping, final accounts, VAT issues in business, management accounting costing techniques and ethical practices for accountants. This qualification further delivers software skills through spreadsheet training for accounting.
Where will this lead?
This qualification allows progression to the Level 4 Professional Diploma and can be used as a route to professional AAT Bookkeeper status (AATQB). The Level 4 Professional Diploma can be used as a route to professional AAT Accountant status (MAAT).
- Good standard of literacy and numeracy (ideally grade C/4 or above at GCSE)
- Attend an interview and complete a maths and English test
- Relevant work experience and/or AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate
