Careers and progression guidance

Deciding which course or apprenticeship to take can be a difficult decision. Some people know the exact job role they would like to pursue, others have an idea about the general industry they would like to work in, and some are at a stage where they are unsure about their next steps and what type of career is right for them.

The Learning Unlimited guidance team can help you focus on your specific career goals before you even apply for an apprenticeship or traineeship by assessing your current skills and interests and matching them with possible job types, industries and current vacancies. They will also offer support throughout your time with Learning Unlimited and even after you leave. It’s important to us that you are heading in the right direction, studying on the right apprenticeship or course and heading towards a career that matches your personal ambitions and goals. Whether your next step is full-time, permanent employment, a higher level apprenticeship or entry to university, you can expect to receive comprehensive support as you progress to the next stage of your career journey.

The guidance team also organises events and activities throughout the year designed to support you as you prepare to take the next step in your career; these include events on Higher Education (HE) which attract a number of different universities and HE providers; sessions on student finance, student accommodation, entrepreneurialism and volunteering; employer events and careers fairs, along with the option to book one-to-one appointments or group sessions with the team on a wide range of different topics.
