Furloughed apprentices can continue their training

Understanding how furlough affects training for apprentices is an issue that we know many of our employer partners have at the moment. This is why we wanted to draw your attention to the latest piece of Government guidance which states apprentices can continue to train when they are in furlough.

However, it is important that the apprentice continues to receive at least the National Apprentice Minimum Wage or the National Living Wage throughout the furlough period if they are continuing their training.  There is more guidance about this from the HMRC here.

If we continue to work with your furloughed apprentice we may ask for evidence to show these rules are being adhered to.

The team from Learning Unlimited is here to work with your furloughed employees for as many hours as is appropriate. This is a great opportunity for apprentices to complete some of their training online with our work-based tutors who are still teaching from home.

If you need any help and advice about how this affects your organisation or apprentice, please do get in touch with the tutor your apprentice would normally work with, or call us on 0345 850 1055 or email info@learningunlimiteduk.com.
