Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week

National Apprenticeship Week 2019

This year is the 12th annual National Apprenticeship Week, coordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service, and to coincide with the campaign, Learning Unlimited has a full programme of activities lined up between 4-8 March.

Careers Fair
As apprenticeships are put under the spotlight, the team is taking part in the Careers Fair at Chesterfield College and will be in the Heartspace area of the College throughout the week to offer advice and chat to anyone interested in finding out more about apprenticeships. There will be the opportunity to ask questions about how to find an apprenticeship and access training and how to apply plus the chance to talk to apprentices to find out what it’s like to be an apprentice.

Schools and learning events
The theme for National Apprenticeship Week is ‘Blaze A Trail’, which highlights how apprenticeships can be a good alternative to going to university and so the team will be going into schools this week to talk to students too about the apprenticeship and training options open to them after school. Meanwhile, other members of the team will be talking to adult learners at the Central Cooperative and will be visiting Job Centres to talk to people about apprenticeship opportunities.

Business events
Learning Unlimited will also be attending the Derby Business Show on Thursday (7 March) at the Derby Conference Centre in Derby to talk to employers about the many benefits of employing an apprentice. And other team members will be holding a workshop at the Chesterfield Apprenticeships and Skills workshop event, organised by Destination Chesterfield, on Thursday at Dunston Innovation Centre, Chesterfield. They’ll be providing impartial advice about apprenticeships and how to get the best out of apprenticeships.

Apprenticeship Advice Evenings
The next Advice Evening takes place at the Nottingham office on 19th March. With opportunities ranging from engineering and construction to catering, IT and business administration, this is a good opportunity for those interested in an apprenticeship to find out what vacancies are currently available, what’s involved and where these careers can lead. The open event will take place at 15 Castlegate, Nottingham NG1 7AQ . There is no need to make an appointment as all are welcome to drop by at any time between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

If you’re interested in finding out more about apprenticeships and not able to attend any of these events, please call the Learning Unlimited team on 0345 8501055. You can also visit the Apprenticeship Advice Hub at Chesterfield College on Infirmary Road, Chesterfield.
