Safeguarding information over the Christmas break

Chesterfield College will close for Christmas at 12 noon on Friday 18th December, reopening on Monday 4th January in 2021.

While the college is closed, we have adapted our safeguarding arrangements to ensure that every student, apprentice, parent and employer partner can still access help and guidance. We have provided details of important contact information for external agencies who should be your first port of call if you have a safeguarding concern.

Safeguarding concerns

If you have any safeguarding concerns relating to someone who is under 18 years of age or a vulnerable adult, please call your Local Authority Social Care phone number. The number you call will be different depending on where you live. You can find details on the following web page by putting in the postcode of where you are reporting from: www.gov.uk/report-child-abuse-to-local-council

Call Derbyshire – this is the contact and referral service for children and adults living in Derbyshire. If you are concerned that a child or vulnerable adult is suffering or at risk of significant harm call:

01629 533190 (option 1 for children and 2 for adults).

The out of hours number (5pm–9am including weekends) is 01629 532600.

If someone is at the immediate risk of harm, contact the Police immediately on 999.

If you are an employer who is concerned about the welfare of an apprentice, please follow the guidelines above.

Covid-19 – symptoms, confirmed cases and Track and Trace

During the Christmas break it’s important to continue with the protocols put in place for Covid-19. As a large college with 1000s of staff, students and apprentices, it’s vital for us to know if there are any confirmed cases or symptoms so we are able to protect others when we return in the New Year.

Reporting of Positive COVID-19 Tests – After 18th December 2020

If you test positive for COVID-19 and the symptoms developed within 48 hours of being on the college campus, please email health&safety@chesterfield.ac.uk with your contact details as soon as possible. You will be contacted by a member of the HR/Health and Safety team to explain what happens next and to advise you on self-isolation protocols.

If you test positive and develop symptoms more than 48 hours after being on campus, you do not need to contact the college but please continue to follow the contact tracing advice via the NHS Test and Trace service: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
