Training for education – our new ‘one stop shop’ for all education providers

Learning Unlimited can now provide a varied and comprehensive range of training designed to meet the needs of education providers located throughout South Yorkshire and the East Midlands. Whether you run an academy, free school, state school, primary school, private school, special educational needs school or other environment where education is delivered, we’ve got all of your training needs covered.

Why choose Learning Unlimited?

We live and breathe education, and we know and experience the challenges of being an education and training provider every day. We are part of the Chesterfield College Group, a large college of Further and Higher Education which delivers a wide variety of courses, study programmes and apprenticeships to over 10,000 individuals every year. Our team understands what it takes to support the needs of students, whether they are aged 16 or 60, from support in the classroom to the infrastructure and resources needed to keep day-to-day business operations efficient and effective.

Understanding your needs

Behind every successful school or academy is a dedicated and well-trained team of administrators, team leaders and managers. These are staff who often have to juggle multiple tasks, adapt to the changing needs of the sector and have the ability to support parents, staff and students.

The modern school requires skills and services that any other complex business needs in order to run efficiently. In-house support with IT systems, website development, social media and digital marketing are just a few of the areas we now provide as apprenticeships – for new or existing staff to undertake.

We have also developed the School Business Professional Apprenticeship. A new and bespoke apprenticeship standard that has been created to provide schools with staff trained specifically to work in school settings. For the first time, training which is designed to cater for the needs of an educational provider is available, with the aim of producing individuals who are equipped to tackle the unique challenges that arise in the sector.

A key part of our offer to schools includes our recruitment service. Finding people with the right attitude and potential to become effective employees in school settings can be tricky. With our help and recruitment experience, the whole process can be quick, simple and pain free. We advertise vacancies, screen candidates and provide you with the very best applicants to choose from.

Training designed to fit around you

Many training providers and colleges can provide some of the courses and apprenticeships that we offer. The difference in our delivery model is flexibility. We can offer bespoke options on many of our courses, tailored to meet the needs of the school. We can create a package of qualifications and training that will have minimal effect on your day-to-day operations, delivered through a mixture of the following:

  • Distance learning
  • Blended learning model
  • Work-based delivery to suit you and your school
  • Online platforms for learning outside of normal business hours
  • Part-time and evening options for some courses

Our offer

Teacher training

As part of the Chesterfield College Group, we can offer a wide range of university-level professional teaching qualifications. We provide the Level 5 Certificate in Post-14 Education and Training (Cert Ed) and the Level 6 Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Post-14, both as part-time courses. These are validated by the University of Derby with course fees which are lower than most universities.

Teaching assistants

We offer both the Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeships for those working as Teaching Assistants.

School Business Professional

A new and bespoke Level 4 apprenticeship designed for those working in a school environment. The content of this Standard focuses on the administration and management of the site, finances and support services in a school setting.

Business administration and customer service

The customer service apprenticeship is available at Levels 2 and 3, while the business administration apprenticeships range from Level 2 to 4. We also offer a Level 4 HNC in Business at the Chesterfield College campus on a full or part-time basis.

IT, digital marketing and social media

For many schools, these roles have become integral to growth and success. Our new apprenticeships in Digital Marketing, Junior Content Producer and Infrastructure Technician are all available as Level 3 Standards, and can be adapted to cover a wide range of roles and responsibilities from social media account management and video production, to IT systems development and website administration.

Management and team leading

These apprenticeships provide an ideal way of developing the talent you already have. So, for staff who are ready to progress into roles with more responsibility, these qualifications aim to support their transition and equip them with skills and knowledge to become effective leaders. The team leader/supervisor apprenticeship is available at Level 3 while the operations/departmental manager apprenticeship is available at Level 5.

Mandatory training

Choose from a wide range of short courses, including First Aid, Health and Safety and Mental Health Awareness. We run courses throughout the year and are able to offer bespoke sessions dependent on numbers.

Professional qualifications

We offer both the AAT Accounting qualifications (Level 2 to Level 4) and CIPD qualifications for anyone working in a role within HR.

“The apprenticeship is improving my knowledge and leading me to a higher qualification, which benefits my long term career prospects.  I am developing and learning all the time. This has been great for my employers, as it offers them an enthusiastic, committed employee with better knowledge and up-to-date practice.  I also feel the pupils I work with reap the benefit of a confident and positive teaching assistant.

“Learning Unlimited came to workplace to sign me up to the apprenticeship, and I was given a designated, and very friendly, tutor who gave me an induction and plenty of support for all of the queries I had. They guide you all the way through, including the OneFile online portfolio, which did prove somewhat challenging in the beginning!”
