Important update for 4th January – for students, apprentices, parents/carers and employers

Following the Government’s announcement yesterday regarding changes to re-opening plans for schools and colleges, I wish to inform you of our plans from 4 January 2021.

Students/apprentices who have an exam/assessment next week should attend college as planned for their exam only, providing they are well, have not tested positive for COVID 19 and are not demonstrating any symptoms.

The college will be closed to all other students/apprentices on Monday 4 January whilst staff prepare to further adapt delivery methods, prepare for on-site testing and support students who are due to sit exams in January.

Tutors will be in contact with students, apprentices and employers on Monday the 4 January to advise them of lessons and plans for the rest of the week.

From Tuesday 5 January, all lessons will be delivered online/remotely unless special arrangements are required for vulnerable students, those with higher needs and for students/apprentices sitting exams.

Students/apprentices with any urgent concerns should contact their tutor on Monday 4 January or email the college at helpline@chesterfield.ac.uk, otherwise we will be in contact on Monday to communicate plans to ensure there is no disruption to learning.

Further updates and information, including our plans for lateral testing will be communicated from next week.

Our first priority remains the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone in our college community,  therefore thank you for your continued support as we adapt our arrangements to accommodate the changes announced yesterday.

Wishing you all a happy New Year.
