Coronavirus: a change to apprenticeship teaching and learning

UPDATE: Monday 23 March

As the situation with Coronavirus continues to change and the advice from the Government reiterates the need to reduce contact and stay at home wherever possible, we are closing all college sites, including Learning Unlimited offices completely from tomorrow (Tuesday 24 March) until further notice.

If you are studying an apprenticeship through Learning Unlimited, in order to protect your welfare and safety we have changed our normal teaching and learning work-based delivery approach as follows:

  1. Tutors will continue to work with you and advise you of the available resources and activities to enable you to study from home and in the workplace as appropriate.
  2. If you are a day release apprentice, your planned learning will not take place in college or at one of our learning centres. Your tutor will contact you to arrange alternative methods of delivery to keep your progress on track.
  3. You will still be able to access support services in relation to your health and wellbeing. Apprentices requiring additional support, or access to any other services, should contact their tutor in the first instance.
  4. We will continue with practical assessments and exams in order for apprentices to achieve their qualifications as far as possible. You will be contacted by your tutor to advise you of when you may need to attend college or a learning centre for such activities.
  5. Please note that these arrangements are subject to change should there be further directives from central government.
  6. If you have any other queries please contact your tutor directly in the first instance. If you encounter any issues, please use the dedicated email address helpline@chesterfield.ac.uk.

Alongside your health and wellbeing, your education and progression remains our priority, and so we ask you to continue to work remotely with the resources provided and engage with your tutors through the appropriate channels.

If you are not attending work or able to continue with your apprenticeship at this time, please inform your tutor as soon as possible.

As we may have staff who are self-isolating in order to offer continuity of training, assessment and support then we may need to change the usual staff member who you work with.

We are available to provide support for any parents or guardians who have any questions or concerns about their son/daughter’s learning. Please send an email to helpline@chesterfield.ac.uk if you have any queries about the work your child has been set or for further support.

As the situation is changing very rapidly, We will continue to update our web site with information and to use our social media channels to let you know when we have more information. We also have this set of helpful FAQs.

These are truly unprecedented times, stay safe and well and we look forward to seeing you very soon.
