Read Roper and Read, a law firm in Manchester, has recently been awarded Learning Unlimited’s Employer of the Month for the way that they have embraced apprenticeships and offer fantastic progression opportunities as well as for their approach to rewarding apprentices.
The company took on their first apprentice earlier this year and haven’t looked back since. They now have 5 apprentices working in the team and plan to recruit more in the future because of the benefits they have seen.
Bosses at the company say apprenticeships have allowed them to recruit a high calibre of ambitious staff who they can mould with the right skills to suit the business. They have high expectations of their apprentices but also pay an attractive salary and ensure that apprentices are supported to succeed as valued members of their team.
Apprentices are given a detailed induction and work on basic administration tasks for 3 months before they are identified for any progression opportunities. A work-based learning tutor visits the apprentices to help them develop their skills and work towards their qualifications.
